Church and Rectory Residents
Over
the years many clergy and lay people have lived in the church flats
and/or the Rectory; some of them made significant contributions to the
wider church and community. Here
are details of some of them.
Mr Doughty
[East Surrey]: asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what
steps he is taking to obtain the necessary permission from the
Czechoslovak Government for the wife and children of the Reverend
Odrich [sic] Trnka, a British subject, to leave Czechoslovakia and join him here. Mr Selwyn Lloyd [Wirral]: Her Majesty's Embassy in Prague have urged the Czechoslovak authorities on humanitarian grounds to permit Mrs. Trnková and her children to join Mr. Trnka in this country. Mr Doughty: Is the Foreign Secretary aware that this couple have been separated for about ten years? As she is a British subject, will he see that these representations are continued so that they may be reunited? Mr Selwyn Lloyd: As my hon. and learned Friend knows, the trouble is that the lady is question has Czechoslovakian as well as British nationality, and that the children are not British. However, we will continue to do the best we can to help. |
